What is the City Sightseeing Melbourne HOP-ON HOP-OFF tour?City Sightseeing’s Melbourne HOP-ON HOP-OFF allows you to discover all the sites and major attractions of Melbourne! It’s a city tour that gives you the freedom to get on or off the open-top double-decker buses at over 27 stops around the city. At any stop you can spend as much time as you want shopping, eating at various restaurants or checking out attractions. When you are ready to continue with the tour, you can refer to our timetable and get on the next scheduled bus.

Why is it best to use the Hop-on Hop off bus?If you are unfamiliar with a town or city, we recommend taking one complete circuit and listening to the commentary. You can then decide which places of interest you want to visit, hopping off to see them up-close before hopping back on the bus. You can use the bus as much as you wish during the valid ticket period.

How many and where are the stops?Each city has a different number of routes and a different number of stops. All the stops are indicated in our maps which can be downloaded from this website or in our brouchers available at our City Sightseeing Stand at DFO South Wharf, onboard the buses or in our Visitor Centers. Will there be commentary?Yes, All of City Sightseeing Melbourne's tours have a pre recorded ENGLIGH only commentary. Multi Language options are not available at this point in time on our tours.

Is the route the same everyday?Our bus tour's are the same each week. There can be changes on weekend's and on holidays and special events. However, all the routes can be modified as a result of local conditions and events; Were possible we will post any variations to a bus tour on our Social Media feeds (Facebook, Twitter & instagram and as well on this website.

What are the Fequency of services?Our City tour had a standed 40 minute timetable between services. Our St kilda tour changes the most to a hourly service to a 2 hourly serive in our Off Peak season Hours of operation change during our PEAK and OFF PEAK season times. In our Peak Season Summer times are City Tour first tour departs 9:30am Last tour departs 5:30pm with a 40 minute timetable St Kilda tour first tour departs 9:45am and the Last tour departs at 4:45pm with services 1 hour apart Off Peak Season (Winter) City Tour first departure time is 9:30am, Last Tour departs at 4:10pm with a 40 minute timetable St Kilda tour first departure time is 9:45am, Last Tour 3:45pm and tours depart every 2 hours. * Servies may be delayed due to local conditions, We do try our best to run to time but conditions can alter this.

Where can we start the tour?Our main departure point is located outside Federation Square on Flinders St in the Melbourne CBD. But passengers can start the tour at any stop indicated along the route and at any moment of the day when the service is available.

What does Hop on, hop off mean?"The ‘Hop On Hop Off’ formula which characterizes our City Sightseeing bus tours allows passengers to get on and off the bus at their leisure, whenever and wherever they want, at any stop along the route, as long as the ticket is valid.

Are the buses accessible for wheelchairs, disabled people and /or passengers with reduced mobility?"Our buses do provide some access issues for passengers in Wheelchairs. Passengers who are unable to be helped onto our buses outside of a wheelchairs cannot be accomodated on our buses at this point in time. Passengers with reduced mobility are advised that our vehicles do have steps to enter them and they may find it difficult.

Are there any days where the is no service?Yes. City Sightseeing Melbourne will not be operating services on the following dates New Years Day 1st January Australia Day 26th January Good Friday Christmas Day 25th December Run for the Kids (date to be confirmed) NOTE: Due to CBD road closures on New Years Eve the last services to depart from Federation Square will be the 3:30pm City Tour and 3:45pm St Kilda Tour.

Changes for events at the MCGYes, Due to traffic management points that are in place on MCG event days service diversions will be in place. Please check with our staff if this applies on your day of travel.
